The brattiest Monday in May ultra spectacular
Coffee Order's first chat, going to the last night of the BRAT Tour, and discovering the Mets.
Last night, I hosted Coffee Order’s first-ever Substack Chat. I got over 2,000 replies which is crazy.
This was really fun. I promise I’ll do it again when something big happens. Most of it was people in my life, but still, pretty wild. Thank you guys so much for participating even if you felt like you had to. I also watched the Knicks take home an amazing second-round W and I was screaming like my dad does at the Ravens. It’s okay though, because my neighbors were also screaming, and their stream was ahead of mine so I could tell when something good was going to happen about 2 seconds before it actually did. LGK.
I don’t even know where to start with this week’s post—so much has happened! On Tuesday, I discovered a very underground, very indie thing to do in New York City. Go to the Mets. It was my first MLB game in about 15 years, and my first one in New York despite having grown up in a sea of Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox fans in Connecticut.
Citi Field emailed me asking for a review of my experience. You want my review? Five stars. 10/10. By far one of the most fun things I’ve done since moving here. We sat in $17 nosebleeds, went on the night they happened to be serving $5 beer, hot dogs, and pretzels, and enjoyed soft serve in a baseball cap with the sun setting over Citi Field. What more could a gal ask for? I’m indoctrinating myself as a true New York Sports lover, just in time for the Mets to be awesome after being terrible for many years I’m learning?

This is not a sports blog, so let’s get down to business. I’ve already started planning my birthday (end of June) like the freak that I am. I just can’t help it! These things will obviously be gatekept until they’ve happened, but I am investing heavily in the coming months. 25 is big, and after this year, I feel like I deserve it.
Other things that arrived this week in the mail include my new table lamps (not sure how I feel about them—kind of an impulse purchase), my new Etsy earrings, and some thick strapped black Havaianas. I have the thin strap square-toe, and they’re just impossible to walk around in. I needed something a little bit more sturdy, and a little bit more Olsen-esque.

Speaking of the Olsen Twins, I was in fact in the same room as Mary-Kate at Night 4 of the BRAT Barclays residency. I bought tickets on a whim last weekend because I couldn’t watch another Instagram Reel from Coachella without seeing Charli for myself. It was everything I expected and more. I actually can’t believe she’s real—she’s the only one on that stage (besides her cameraman) for the entire time. No dancers, the only prop being a light-up rope during the encore, no structures, no band. And she had us captivated for every single second. It made me want to party, but I quickly realized that most parties like that don’t end at 10:30 like the concert did—or even start at 10:30 for that matter.
I was excited to go on Sunday because it was Met Gala-eve, and I figured we’d get some good celeb sightings. I saw Dua Lipa and Calum Turner, Mary-Kate Olsen, Nicole Kidman, Gabriette, Rosé (as the Apple Dance girl), and more that are probably escaping my memory. Very exciting for someone like me who cares way too much. I wore a baby tee made for me specially by my dear friend Elizabeth, this Gimaguas skirt I got from SSENSE pre-tariffs during the sale (there are a few left on sale at Shopbop), and my Tabis. Here’s also a terrible pic of Charli.

I’ve never been to Barclays, but what a great time. We went to SUKH in Fort Greene before (highly recommend) and walked on over. Wearing concert merch to work makes me feel like I’m in elementary school again and just saw the Jonas Brothers or something. I love doing it and try to do it every time I see someone in concert. I love merch, even if it’s overpriced. I feel like my future daughter or son is going to think I’m really cool for going to the BRAT Arena Tour, and I’ll even let them have my tee one day. It’s all about the inheritance.
Otherwise during the weekend, I went bar hopping in the LES, got my couch professionally cleaned (it stays wet for like 24 hours after, and nobody told me that?), enjoyed an amazing meal Sugarfish followed by new flavors at Salt & Straw, and a nightcap that consisted of a three-part documentary about a woman who faked her own kidnapping (it was meh).

I just got a warning that we’re near the email limit, so I need to get talking about the Met Gala. You can reread the chat above for a real play-by-play analysis, but the spark notes are as follows:
This year felt pretty electric. It was pouring rain all day, and the air was full of mystery. Would Timmy and Kylie walk the carpet together? No. Who would Kim wear? Head-to-toe custom Chrome Hearts. What would Law Roach pull out of his magic hat? A blonde wig.
My best dressed, subject to change since we are approximately three hours post-carpet, are probably Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade, both in Prada (I could not find this information on any article posted in the wake of the evening, but it’s literally on her Instagram story? Wake up, guys). They popped off as a cohesive unit of complete excellence! I also loved Lewis Hamilton in Wales Bonner (loved this pick of designer as well), Coleman Domingo of course in custom Valentino, and FKA Twigs in another great Wales Bonner look.

The shortlist of people I was disappointed in should be called a longlist. Dua Lipa, Kylie Jenner, don’t even get me started on Hailey and Kendall—straight out of the Revolve Office Siren collection—Pharrell (very boring for the CD of Louis Vuitton), and Tyla to name a few. There were so many that were beautiful, just so not on-theme: Sofia Richie Grainge, Jenna Ortega, Lorde, Demi Moore. Special shoutouts to Laura Harrier and Doechii also for slaying the house down. I knew Vittoria’s look was familiar…

The after party looks are my guilty pleasure of the evening. They’re always so fun, flirty, and interesting to me. I’m sad that Billie Eilish, Zoe Kravitz, Addison Rae, and a few other of my personal divas didn’t make it. They were seriously missed. I’m purposefully not talking about a certain A+++ lister, from a big family whose sisters I talked about earlier, on this blog anymore because of her weird obsession with Tesla Robots and Elon Musk.
I’ll post some of my favorite after party looks on Notes once they come out. If you guys have any other chat topics you’d like for me to do, my inbox is open. We’re almost to summer, the days are getting longer, my schedule is filling up, and I’m feeling very excited. This week is much less exciting than last, but I’m sure I’ll have something to share by next. Talk soon.
Life is good!
can you believe how exciting this first half of the year has been and you’re not even at the 6 month mark! ✨
